Here I sit, with the daughter who talked me into this and she's staring over my shoulder to see if I'm as intelligent as I convinced her I was long ago.
So - the biggest story of my life was my time in the Pacific island wars with the Japanese. All that followed a year of guard duty after boot camp and my marriage to the girl I loved and left behind. Cured that on my first leave and heavy duty pressure on Libby. Then back to guard duty, but only for a short time before transfer to the Fleet Marine Force. And that was followed by two and a half years in the island wars before I saw my bride again. At Camp Pendleton I became a machinegunner and held that job for the whole time.
